The Knowit Group offers industry specific training designed for recruiting and human resource.
This month The Knowit Group launched its groundbreaking Core IT training series, designed to help recruiters and HR professionals gain a fundamental understanding of information technology. The Knowit Group has brought together the major areas of IT in a way that make them understandable for a non-technical audience.
With technology woven into every segment of business, competition for technical talent is fiercer than ever. Recruiters and HR professionals are on the front line of this battle for IT talent; unfortunately, until now, there were few options to give them the understanding of technology they needed. Knowit Training’s Core IT series promises to make these professionals more conversant with technology while providing the basis for future learning. According to John Brown, V.P. of Product Development for The Knowit Group, “When I worked as a technical recruiter, I might spend hours researching technical terms so that I could conduct a candidate search. Unfortunately, none of this led to a true understanding of technology, and I rarely retained this information long-term. We are approaching training in an entirely different way. We start with the basics of technology as the foundation of learning. This doesn’t eliminate the need for conversations with hiring managers and candidates, but rather makes those conversations so much more meaningful and productive.”
As an immediate result of this training, recruiters will be more effective at evaluating the fit of a candidate to the position based on their resume. “While we aimed to establish a basis for future learning, we also wanted participants to experience an immediate benefit,” according to Sue Batchelor, Knowit CEO. “When tasked with finding a systems software developer, recruiters who have completed our training will know what the components of systems software are and be able to spot them on a resume rather than missing out on those qualified candidates altogether.”
The Knowit Group video-based courses are offered online and on-demand to make this a flexible training option for busy professionals. Peter Hendley-Hall, Knowit V.P. of Global Operations stated, “Developing this kind of understanding by traditional methods is time-consuming and can take years. It’s not realistic to expect busy recruiters and HR professionals to enroll in technology courses at the college level. At The Knowit Group, we distilled the training to provide the right amount of information at the appropriate level.” Participants who successfully complete the training and assessments will receive their Certified Technology Recruiter (CTR) certification. This certification demonstrates that learning took place and recognizes this significant achievement. “These professionals have gone the extra mile to learn about technology and deserve recognition for it,” stated Hayley Brown, CFO.
“This training series also promises to deliver more employee satisfaction among recruiters and HR people. Everything is more enjoyable when you’re good at it. Being more knowledgeable about IT will make supporting IT groups and hunting for technical talent a lot more fun,” added John Brown.
